Okay, so you've made the decision to start training, and would like to work with a trainer, but you're not really sure what your next steps should be. Or your first steps. Or really, any of the steps. 🙂 No problem! Generally speaking, here are the main steps to getting started:
Find the right trainer - We find this to be the most important step, because every other step will go smoother, easier, and better for you if you have the right trainer on your side. Every trainer has a different personality, style, background, and area/s of expertise, and a good match will be better for you in the long run. There’s not any training style that’s better or worse overall, it just depends on what your needs are. Check this page for more on picking a trainer.
Discussions/emails/messages/other with your trainer to determine the best program for you. Your trainer needs to understand your training goals, your background, any medical considerations, etc. They’ll work with you to figure out a good schedule, what training format/s you’ll be using, and more. Maybe you have a lot of experience and don’t need as much hands on? Maybe it’s your first time ever, and you want some extra time spent on background concepts and fundamentals. Everyone is different, and everyone should have a personalized program.
